Xiaojun Wang Led Delegation to Visit Germany, Austria and Italy
From September 28 to October 6, Xiaojun Wang, Dean of the School of Statistics at Renmin University of China (RUC) and Executive Director of the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS)-RUC Research Data Center, led a delegation to visit the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the University of Florence, and the University of Pisa.
At ZEW, discussions with Dr. Sandra Gottschalk, Christian Rammer, and Philipp Boeing focused on microdata development and applications of data science. At UNIDO, talks with Dr. Nobuya Haraguchi and Fernando Bazaldua explored potential collaborations in government statistics training, industrial policy research, and student internships.
The delegation also met with Professors Guido Ferrari and Mauro Maltagliati at the University of Florence to discuss faculty and student exchanges. At the University of Pisa, the delegation held meetings with Professors Giovanni Federico Gronchi, Nicola Giuseppe Castellano, and Lorenzo Corsini. They reviewed existing partnerships and discussed further cooperation, particularly in the Economic Science Master's program.
The visit strengthened RUC's ties with leading European institutions, enhancing the global influence of its statistics discipline.
