From October 1 to 5, a delegation of 18 faculty and students from the School of Statistics, Renmin University of China (RUC), led by Vice Dean Jianxin Yin and faculty members, visited Singapore for an academic exchange program. The delegation engaged in academic visits to the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and held discussions with local alumni.
01 Academic Exchange
At NUS, the delegation participated in a seminar hosted by Professor Yingcun Xia and Professor Cheng Li, who introduced the department’s academic structure, faculty team, and PhD programs. At NTU, Professor Thomas Peyrin and Associate Professor Pun Chi Seng introduced NTU’s curriculum, research strengths, and graduate programs. Students engaged in lively discussions and explored the campus, gaining insights into academic life in a multicultural environment.
02 Alumni Engagement
The group also held an alumni sharing session with seven distinguished graduates who discussed their academic paths and life in Singapore. Students raised questions about study planning, research interests, and career development, receiving valuable advice and encouragement.
03 Cultural Exploration
Beyond academia, students visited cultural landmarks such as the National Museum of Singapore, Marina Bay, and Chinatown. These experiences enriched their understanding of Singapore’s history, urban development, and cultural diversity.
