The 18th Academic Symposium on Statistical Methods in Clinical Research Successfully Held
On January 4, the 18th Academic Symposium on Statistical Methods in Clinical Research was successfully held at Renmin University of China (RUC). Co-organized by multiple institutions including RUC's Center for Applied Statistics, Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Institute of Health Data Science, Beijing Biometrics Association (BBA), and Healthcare Big Data Branch of the National Industrial Statistics Association, the event brought together leading experts to discuss cutting-edge statistical methodologies for medical research.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Professor Xiuhua Guo, President of BBA, and Professor Danhui Yi, the symposium initiator. Keynote presentations were delivered by Professors Qihua Wang (Chinese Academy of Sciences) on decentralized network inference, Fuzhong Xue (Shandong University) on clinical big data platforms, and Yijuan Hu (Peking University) on microbial network inference.
The afternoon session showcased research from young scholars, including Kejun He (RUC) on microbial community modeling, Shucong Zhang (University of International Business and Economics) on high-dimensional multinomial data analysis, and Xinyue Wang (RUC) on artificial genomes for genetic studies. Doctoral candidates Nan Qiao, Xi Gu, and Xingwei Liu also presented innovative work on survival analysis, model confidence sets, and high-dimensional testing.
The symposium facilitated interdisciplinary exchange and advanced the development of biostatistics in China, promoting collaboration between statistical methodology and clinical research.
